The Commons and the Gabriola Green Bikes Program (GGBP) are pleased to announce the first in a series of basic bicycle maintenance workshops. Thanks to a generous donation from Hank Sirlin, a GGBP representative has recently completed a one week intensive course at United Bicycle Institute in Ashland, Oregon and will be leading the workshops. The first will take place on Saturday Sep 4th at The Commons, from 10 am until noon. It will focus on tire and chain maintenance with subsequent events dedicated to brakes, gears and other components. The workshops will be offered at no cost although donations to GGBP will be gratefully accepted. Enrollment is limited to ten people but there will be a repeat session if there is sufficient community interest. To reserve a spot, please call 247-0083. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring their own bikes.

And speaking of gratitude, the Green Bikes Program would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals who have kindly donated bicycles.

- invitation to all Gabriolans to take part in the writing of the first Management Plan for the Gabriola Commons (at 3 pm)
